Rats Make Great Pets
The Rat Assistance & Teaching Society provides this excellent website filled with information on the care of pet rats. They also dispel the many myths associated with these very bright and loving creatures.

American Animal Hospital Association's "Pet Care Library"
Pet care articles and FAQ's help answer a variety of questions about dogs, cats, exotics, and veterinary medicine. Covers topics such as behavior, general health, diet and weight control, pet loss, housebreaking and veterinary care. Also includes some breed information for those considering adding a new pet to their family.

American Humane gives some great advice for keeping your pets safe this holiday season. The Pets 911 website and toll-free, bi-lingual phone number are available to both the animal welfare community and the public. Their goal is to promote responsible pet ownership and decrease animal homelessness in our communities by providing this public service.

Pet Food Information
"The Best Dry Dog Foods" are noted, as well as some that are "Not So Good" for your dog. Name-brand dry dog foods are ranked from best to not so good according to the ingredients that they contain (wheat-free, animal by-product free, etc.). Xylitol Poisoning in Pets-MSNBC Website
The commonly used sweetner, Xylitol, may cause liver failure in dogs, and may even kill them according to a report in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Read more about these findings as reported by Reuters on MSNBC's website.
