Responsible Pet Ownership

Please be a responsible pet owner by following these simple steps:
Make sure your pet is always wearing a collar and an
up-to-date identification tag (microchipping is an added benefit).
Get training for your dog or puppy. Behavior problems should
be addressed before they get out of hand (consult a professional for help if
necessary). Also learn how to prevent dog bites.
Take your pet to the veterinarian for annual check-ups.
Have your pet spayed or neutered.
Prepare a family disaster plan that includes your pet.
Appoint someone to care for your pet should you become
unable to.
Clean up after your dog when away from your property. And do not let your cat
use your neighbor's yard for a litterbox.
Adopt your next pet from the animal shelter!

NEVER turn an unwanted pet loose to fend for itself. Local animal shelters or
rescue organizations can connect you with resources for placing the animal in a new home.
Learn all you can about the breed or species you are interested in before you purchase or adopt a pet.
Make sure the animal is right for your
lifestyle: Do you have time to spend with the pet? Is the pet's temperament right
for your family? What size will it be when full-grown? Are you prepared
for a long-term commitment? Are you financially able to provide care for the
animal?
