As you may
have heard there are many exciting changes in
progress at the Tallahassee Leon Community Animal
Service Center. Last year the Animal Service Center
underwent a comprehensive review and evaluation
conducted by the Humane Society of the United
States. One of the primary recommendations was to
start a spay and neuter program at the shelter.
I am honored to have been hired as the new shelter
veterinarian. I have been in private practice in
Tallahassee for seven years, thus I am aware of the
past operations of the Animal Service Center and the
current concerns of the local community. My initial
task is to establish the surgical suite and
prep/recovery room. The
Animal Service Center has two empty rooms set aside
for our surgical suite and prep/recovery room and I
am in the process of equipping those rooms.
We are in need of many, many items:
Towels
Blankets
Small dorm-sized refrigerator
Metal or plastic bookshelf for storage
Large Trash Cans
We are also in need of medical and surgical
supplies, new or used. So if you know any
vets, dentists or physicians who have old equipment
they are not using, we'd love to have it!
If you have items to donate, suggestions or
questions please feel free to contact me by e-mail
or phone (891-2980).
Thanks.
